Man falls 10 metres down Town Hall escalator

A man has suffered a broken jaw and broken teeth after falling 10 metres down an escalator guide rail at Sydney’s Town Hall railway station.

He hit a metal pole after the fall, which occurred just before 11pm on Friday, and was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Police attended the scene but have been unable to identify the man and have released CCTV images to help locate his next of kin.

He has been described as being of African appearance, aged in his late teens or early 20s and about 183 to 185 centimetres tall.

He is wearing black jeans and a white short-sleeved collared shirt and carrying a green reusable shopping bag in the CCTV footage.
