Kangaroos confident Tarrant will be ready for round one

North Melbourne are confident key defender Robbie Tarrant will be ready to play against Fremantle in round one after undergoing surgery to fix his AC joint in February.

Thirty-eight days will have passed between Tarrant’s operation and when the Kangaroos play the Dockers in Perth on March 24, with the club confident that barring mishap between now and next Sunday he will line up in the club’s season opener at Optus Stadium in Perth.

With veteran Scott Thompson unavailable through suspension, Majak Daw recovering from pelvis injuries and Sam Durdin cutting his finger badly in an accident in the kitchen at home, the Kangaroos have been hopeful Tarrant would recover in time to take on the Dockers’ tall timber.

Despite injuries to Brennan Cox and Matt Taberner on the weekend, the Dockers still have plenty of tall options up forward with Jesse Hogan, Cam McCarthy and Rory Lobb all candidates to spend time inside 50.
