Storms to emerge in central Queensland after south-east cops drenching

Damaging winds, heavy rainfall and large hailstones are being predicted for parts of Queensland as severe thunderstorms were developing.

The Bureau of Meteorology issued a warning about 2.30pm on Saturday for Central Highlands and Coalfields, Central West and Maranoa and Warrego districts.

“Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds, heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding and large hailstones in the warning area over the next several hours,” the warning said.

“Locations which may be affected include Clermont, Tambo, Blackall, Capella, Dysart and Carnarvon National Park.”
