After a stinging assessment from their own football director Jimmy Bartel in the light of last week’s loss to Hawthorn, which Bartel described as the worst in the Giants’ history, the players responded in punishing fashion against the Blues.

Carlton was overwhelmed from the start and slumped to trail by more than 12 goals at half time.

The Giants had an astonishing 247 disposals for the first half, which was the most for any club so far in season 2019.
