Cronulla have signed South Sydney half Connor Tracey on a two-year deal in a move that will provide cover for, and put pressure on, the incumbent Sharks playmakers.
The contract, signed just before Tracey’s Rabbitohs took on his future employers at PointBet Stadium on Saturday night, is a reward for his persistence. The 23-year-old’s career appeared over after suffering three ACL injuries that prevented him from taking the field for three successive seasons.
However, Tracey refused to allow the setbacks to force him into a premature retirement and his determination paid off when he made an impressive NRL debut against Parramatta in round 12.
The Australian Schoolboys representative, who was named as 18th man for the Sharks clash, kept his spot the following week against Newcastle in his only other appearance in the top grade.
