‘Well, that is weird’: Man clings to bonnet through Melbourne’s CBD

An elderly man has clung to the bonnet of a moving car for hundreds of metres as it sped through Melbourne’s CBD in front of bewildered witnesses.

Police are still hunting the Jeep involved in the bizarre incident, which began just before 11.30am on Monday at the corner of Spencer and Collins streets and ended on Flinders Street a short time later.

Witness Patrick Walsh said he saw two men banging on the Jeep’s driver’s side window before noticing a third, older man on its bonnet.

“I thought ‘stranger things have happened in city’, then I had closer look and there was a guy on bonnet. I  thought, ‘well, that is weird’,” Mr Walsh said.
