Fitzgibbon and Walters headline Hall of Fame nominations

Craig Fitzgibbon and Kevin Walters, touted as NRL head-coaches-in-waiting, are among the 25 former players in contention for induction into the Hall of Fame.

There are 25 nominees for up to four spots when the next batch of greats is officially honoured with formal induction next week.

Among the other contenders are Gary Belcher, Steve Renouf, Geoff Toovey, Stacey Jones, Greg Alexander, Paul Sironen, Craig Young, Ruben Wiki, Paul Harragon and Danny Buderus. Fitzgibbon and Walters have also been shortlisted at a time when their coaching credentials could result in them picking up a head coaching role if an opening appears during the off season.
