Ashes 2nd Test Day One

9GEM, 7.30pm

The last time England played a Test at Lord’s, against Ireland, they eventually triumphed, although, rather sensationally, they were all out for 85 on the first day. The team, and the nation, will be hoping history won’t repeat itself at this hallowed ground. On the other hand, the Aussies will be hoping to put their arch enemy in on a green top under heavy cloud and embarrass the Poms – the team, the nation and battered Boris – like they’ve never been embarrassed before. Because who wouldn’t want to do that?

The Bachelor

Ten, 7.30pm

Tensions are still simmering after the last cocktail party, although, honestly, when is that not the case? Someone almost always does something that’s frowned upon in order to win more one-on-one time with the prize catch. Then the others look daggers in her direction and snipe about how outrageous she is. Here, Osher – a man who has learnt how to keep a straight face and make it look as though he really cares what happens next – takes the women on a getaway to the NSW Central Coast. One of them scores a single date with Matt. Fruit is squelched between feet, a connection is discovered, family history is revealed. Later comes information that causes the object of desire to get angry. Which is unusual. Beyond that, it’s just another night of conflict, cattiness and choreographed chaos at the mansion.
