Police car shot, rammed in ambush outside McDonald’s in Sunbury

Police have been ambushed when a patrol car was shot at and rammed outside a McDonald’s restaurant north-west on Melbourne in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Officers were patrolling in Sunbury when their car was shot at on Horne Street about 3.15am.

The officers drove to the nearby McDonald’s restaurant and sought cover inside. A police supervisor came to check on the safety of employees and police inside.

While they took cover inside, the patrol car was then shot at again. Police said a silver sedan then rammed the car before speeding off.
