Dozens of firefighters battle blaze at Box Hill office building

Dozens of firefighters have battled a large blaze at an empty office building in Melbourne’s east, which sent plumes of black smoke billowing over the area.

About 32 firefighters from the Metropolitan Fire Brigade were called to the office building on Prospect Street, near Nelson Road, in Box Hill about 5.20pm on Tuesday afternoon.

Those who were first on the scene found a fire on the first floor of the two-storey vacant building.

The blaze was brought under control by 6pm, however, firefighters remained at the building and smoke could still be seen overhead.
