Eastern suburbs boarding house gutted by intense fire

An intense fire has ripped through a boarding house in Sydney’s eastern suburbs on Monday morning.

Firefighters were called to the two-level building on Dolphin Street, Coogee, shortly before 5am and arrived to find it completely engulfed in flames.

A spokesman for Fire and Rescue NSW said firefighters were told by management that everyone had been accounted for, and a full-scale search of the building did not show signs of anyone still inside.

It took about 30 minutes to bring the fire under control, the spokesman said.
