Moment’s silence for Danny Frawley at AFL semi-finals

Before the national anthem is played prior to the game, the crowd will be asked to stand, pause and reflect in brief silence to pay tribute to Frawley who died Monday in a car crash.

“Danny was a friend to everyone in footy and his passion for the game, from the elite to the grassroots was unmatched,” AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan said.

“Whether you knew him as the St Kilda Captain, the Richmond Coach, or the loveable guy on the TV or radio who always made you smile, the acknowledgement this weekend is a way for everyone to pay tribute to the man we all knew and loved.”

The AFL was still in discussions with the Frawley family over their wishes and plans for Danny’s funeral which is likely to attract a very large crowd of mourners.

Details of the funeral or a memorial service were still being established with discussion of a possible service at Moorabbin.

The radio station SEN where Frawley worked this season issued a tribute to the popular special comments caller on Tuesday. The station is also likely to further honour him with special comments in the pre-match coverage this weekend.
