Seeking their first Asia Cup gold medal, the Opals will need to avenge their dramatic one-point loss to Japan in the 2017 final in order to reach the championship decider.
While Australia will be backing up from playing four games in four days, Japan will head into Saturday’s semi-final having earned a rest day for finishing top of group A.
The Opals quickly put the disappointment of Thursday’s loss behind them as they dominated Taiwan from the outset, holding them to 3-19 shooting in the first quarter on their way to a 26-9 lead.
Taiwan’s perimeter shooting improved in the second term but with Allen and Cayla George on target, Australia extended their lead to 52-23 at the main break.
Australia dropped their intensity in the third quarter but closed with the final eight points to establish a match-winning 73-36 advantage.
