Papalii free to play in NRL grand final

Josh Papalii is free to play in the NRL grand final after he escaped any charge for a high shot on South Sydney’s rising star Adam Doeuihi.

Papalii was arguably the Raiders’ best player in Canberra’s thrilling 16-10 win on Friday night, making 168 metres with ball in hand and scoring the try which proved to be the knockout blow in a match worthy of prize fight status.

But his high shot on Rabbitohs fullback Doeuihi – who happened to be the only player on the ground with more run metres – would have made for a restless night for the Queensland Origin star after he was placed on report.

Those fears were put to bed on Saturday when Papalii was not even hit with a fine for the tackle.
