Police bitten, headbutted after dozens ejected from the AFL grand final

Police have been bitten, head butted and struck in the face in ugly incidents during and after Saturday’s grand final.

Among the incidents, the father of GWS footballer Toby Greene has been charged with head butting a female police officer.

In separate incidents at the ground, another police officer was bitten and a third struck in the head, as more than 40 people were ejected from the ground during Richmond’s grand final win.

The three men accused of the assaults were among 43 people evicted from the AFL grand final for offences including drug possession, loutish behaviour and ticketing offences.

Later, as Tigers fans poured into Richmond’s Swan Street, three were arrested for public drunkenness and another three will appear in court on summons for discharging flares.
