Keary free to play grand final after escaping with low-grade charge

The Australian and Queensland star was placed on report for a high tackle on South Sydney No.1 Adam Doueihi in the Raiders’ gripping win in the grand final qualifier on Friday night.

But on Sunday it was Trent Robinson breathing a huge sigh of relief that his gun playmaker, who starred in last year’s grand final win over Melbourne as Cooper Cronk miraculously played with a broken shoulder blade, would be available for the decider.

Keary has been battling an ankle injury and hobbled out of the SCG on Saturday night after again twisting it during the game.

The Roosters will start red-hot favourites against the Raiders at ANZ Stadium on Sunday night as they bid to be the first club in the NRL era to win back-to-back titles.
