In other moves as jockeying began ahead of the official trade period commencing next Monday and the free agency window opening from Friday, out of contract Adelaide Crows midfielder Cameron Ellis-Yolmen has told the Crows he will move to Brisbane as a free agent.
Ellis-Yolmen is a delisted free agent as he had previously been delisted by the Crows and re-selected as a rookie. He will sign a three-year deal with the Brisbane Lions who are also interested in Gold Coast Suns player Callum Ah Chee.
Crows teammate Hugh Greenwood is also poised to ask for a trade to the Suns who are looking to introduce another big body to the midfield. Greenwood, who is a good mark, also has the scope to play forward.
Richmond dual premiership player Brandon Ellis is expected to exercise his free agency option and move to the Gold Coast on a five-year deal.
The moves are part of a significant overhaul of the Crows list with key defender Alex Keath asking to be traded to the Bulldogs where St Kilda forward Josh Bruce is also likely to ask to be traded.
Sam Jacobs will leave the Crows to join the GWS Giants and the Crows confirmed last week that the club had agreed with contracted forward Josh Jenkins that he would look for another home. Eddie Betts is also a possibility to be traded back to Carlton.
The Blues will move first to seek to secure Tom Papley but also need to trade for Suns midfielder Jack Martin who has told his club he wants to be traded to the Blues.
Lions wingman Tom Cutler is also exploring options to return to Victoria for family reasons. The pacy wingman has an offer to remain at the Lions but is considering a move back to Victoria to be close to his family.
Former number one pick Jon Patton will be traded to Hawthorn for a minor draft pick as the Giants seek to remove his significant wage from the salary cap.
