A Sydney IT contractor at property valuation firm Landmark White has been arrested following several high-profile cyber attacks involving 170,000 data records.

Detectives from the state crime command’s cybercrime squad and officers from the public order and riot squad raided Stephen Grant’s Rozelle home and a business data centre at Ultimo on Wednesday morning.

Mr Grant, 49, was on Wednesday morning being interviewed at Surry Hills police station, where he was expected to be charged later in the day.

“In June 2019, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Cybercrime Squad established Strike Force Vide to investigate unauthorised access to the main database and document store of an Australian-based company,” read a statement issued by police on Wednesday.
