Injury, embroidery fail disrupt Wallabies preparations ahead of Uruguay clash

The powerhouse centre was supposed to be rested given his large playing load across Super Rugby and the Test season this year, as well as intense scrutiny over his decision to leave Australian rugby for Japan and the recent controversy over his high fend in Australia’s loss to Wales.

It was also reported on Saturday that monster Australian prop Taniela Tupou had picked up a concussion and was observing return to play protocols, which explained his absence from Wallabies’ line-ups so far at the World Cup.

His last appearance was against Samoa in Australia’s World Cup warm-up last month.

Meanwhile, Dempsey and Salakaia-Loto will play at No.8 and No.6 respectively but wear the opposite numbers.

A team spokesman said the error was the result of a “mix-up with the local embroidery” business.

Australia will play in the Indigenous jersey for the first time at a World Cup and only the third time since its creation.
