‘Leave immediately’ Lockyer Valley residents told as bushfire closes in

Residents in part of the Lockyer Valley have been told to leave immediately as a fast-moving bushfire ploughs towards homes.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services issued an urgent warning for Thornton, about 60 kilometres south-west of Ipswich.

“Leaving immediately is the safest option, as it will soon be too dangerous to drive,” the warning said.

“If you cannot leave, identify where you will seek shelter from the bushfire.”
