Crows interview Robert Harvey for senior coaching role

If Harvey were to be successful in winning the Adelaide job, the Magpies would have to find another assistant coach in their ranks, having already lost defensive coach Justin Longmuir, who has been appointed senior coach at Fremantle.

Harvey, like the other candidates, was interviewed by the Crows’ coach-search panel of influential board member and former skipper Mark Ricciuto, chief executive Andrew Fagan, ex-Geelong and Adelaide player James Podsiadly and former Australian basketball great Phil Smyth.

Harvey has been working with the Collingwood midfield over the past two seasons, having been part of Nathan Buckley’s coaching panel throughout Buckley’s eight seasons as senior coach. The Magpies believe he is ready to be a senior coach. A dual Brownlow medallist and games record holder at St Kilda, Harvey was a candidate for the St Kilda coaching job before caretaker coach Brett Ratten was appointed for the next three seasons.
