Saints football manager Simon Lethlean said the injury would not have a significant impact on Hannebery’s preparation.
“Our team of physios and strength and conditioning guys were keen to manage Dan’s workload prior to the Christmas break, and their program will now be pushed back two to three weeks,” Lethlean said.
“He should be running at the start of December and training with the main group shortly after.”
The injury is a blow to the Saints after a successful trade period saw them land five players – Fremantle’s Brad Hill, Sydney’s Zak Jones, Port Adelaide’s Paddy Ryder and Dougal Howard as well as Richmond’s Dan Butler.
However they traded out Jack Steven (Geelong), Blake Acres (Fremantle) and Josh Bruce (Bulldogs).
Under new coach Brett Ratten the Saints are expected to improve having performed better in the back half of 2019 winning three of the first six games under Ratten.
