Australian cricket star Glenn Maxwell is taking an indefinite break from cricket as he deals with a mental health issue.
Maxwell was due to play for Australia in Friday night’s Twenty20 international against Sri Lanka at the MCG but has instead stepped away from the game.
Cricket Australia is fully supportive of Maxwell’s decision.
“Glenn Maxwell has been experiencing some difficulties with regards to his mental health. As a result, he will spend a short time away from the game,” team psychologist Michael Lloyd said via a CA statement on Thursday.
