If you’re lucky enough to be on Bathurst Island at the Tiwi Islands on Saturday, you’ll be treated to the sight of four-time premiership winner Cyril Rioli playing footy.
Rioli, 30, stunned the AFL world when he retired during 2018 to move back home, ending a 189 game career with Hawthorn. Many thought that was a premature end, but Cyril is back.
On Saturday, in the Tiwi Bombers’ first game on Tiwi Islands for the season, Rioli will make his return to footy.
The 2015 North Smith Medal winner joined NTFL side the Tiwi Bombers as a runner late in the 2018 season, and stepped up to be an assistant coach, looking after the forwards group, for this season.
