Court allows police to photograph alleged child snatcher, take her DNA

Accused child stealer Samantha Azzopardi will be forced to provide police with a DNA sample and be photographed after failing to co-operate with authorities since her arrest.

Ms Azzopardi, 31, who failed to front court for a second day on Tuesday, remains in hospital undergoing medical treatment after initially being admitted for an MRI scan on Monday.

Police prosecutor Dave Rennie told the Bendigo Magistrates Court on Tuesday that he hoped the compulsory procedures would help assist pending investigations.

‘‘Ms Azzopardi is refusing to have her photo taken or provide a DNA sample,’’ Senior Constable Dave Rennie said.
