The Irish influence on Essendon’s list is growing with the Bombers signing Gaelic football convert Cian McBride.
McBride, 18, has signed for the Bombers until the end of the 2021 season after impressing at the AFL Draft Combine and AFL Europe training sessions earlier this year.
He has spent his childhood playing Gaelic football but changed to Australian Rules football this year.
Essendon’s head of list and recruiting, Adrian Dodoro said the 196-centimetre prospect moved surprisingly well for his size.
“We are delighted to welcome Cian to the club as our second international rookie for season 2020,” Dodoro said.
