Movie star’s alleged rape victim denies lying to husband

A woman who says she was raped by Chinese movie star Yunxiang Gao and his producer has denied she lied to her husband to avoid telling him what happened in a Sydney hotel room.

Defence lawyer Margaret Cunneen, SC, suggested to the woman at the centre of the sexual assault trial that her husband was grilling her about why she was late home in the early hours of March 27.

“You didn’t know how to tell him that you’d been spending time in a hotel room with two prominent men did you?” Ms Cunneen, who is representing producer Jing Wang before the NSW District Court, said, to which the woman replied, “that’s incorrect.”

The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, faced her fifth day of questioning in front of a jury as Mr Gao and Mr Wang, both 37, defend multiple counts of aggravated sexual assault and indecent assault over allegations they raped the woman in a suite at the Shangri-La Hotel in The Rocks following a party at a karaoke bar.
