The Broncos are flying a club official to Indonesia immediately to assist star forward David Fifita after he was detained by police after an alleged incident involving a nightclub security guard.
Fifita was holidaying in his off-season but has managed to find himself in hot water at the same nightclub where Melbourne’s Nelson Asofa-Solomona had landed in trouble last month.
Fifita is believed to be at Kuta police station, where he can be held in custody for 24 hours before being charged or freed.
A Broncos official said the club was working closely with the NRL Integrity Unit on the matter and had been in contact with lawyers in Bali who are assisting Fifita on the ground.
“The Brisbane Broncos have been made aware that David Fifita has been detained by authorities in Bali after an alleged incident involving a security guard,” a Broncos statement said.
“The club is working with representatives in Bali to provide David all the support he needs and a Broncos official is travelling to Indonesia today (Saturday).”
