Vidosic hopes Simon can play her way back to Matildas

Melbourne City coach Rado Vidosic is hoping that injury-plagued striker Kyah Simon can play her way back into the Matildas on the back of strong early-season performances with one of the W-League’s most in-form teams.

Simon scored the only goal in City’s 1-0 triumph over Adelaide United in a game the club took to the regional centre of Shepparton on Saturday night, striking in the eighth minute.

The Reds had a goal disallowed for offside early in the second half, but the win gives City seven points out of a possible nine and has them sitting in second spot on the ladder – a stark contrast to last season, when City were pointless after three matches.

Vidosic was pleased to see Simon, a Matildas stalwart who was overlooked for the World Cup squad, get on the scoresheet.
