Son’s joyride in stolen car ends in his father’s death

A son’s joyride in a stolen car has ended in tragedy, after his father who was clinging to the side of the vehicle was killed when the vehicle flipped.

Police say Michael Gliddon, 41, was hanging off the side of a black Kia Sorrento as it was being driven by his 20-year-old son Brandon at high speed in Bell Park, a suburb of Geelong, on Sunday night.

Michael’s daughter Shanaya was visibly distraught when she told Nine News that both her father and brother had made silly choices, but her father “never deserved” to die in such traumatic circumstances.

“I just can’t believe he’s gone,” she said.
