Sydney superstar Lance Franklin has undergone arthroscopic surgery on his knee after feeling discomfort over the New Year period.
The 32-year-old will be out for 10 weeks but he has yet to be ruled out of round one by the Swans which, for them, is on March 21 against the Crows at the Adelaide Oval.
“We weighed it up and felt that it was best for Lance to have a clean up now, so he underwent an arthroscope on Monday,” Swans head of football Charlie Gardiner said.
“We may have been able to manage the knee through the year, but we’re hopeful that this will mean Lance can have an uninterrupted season. He has had a similar clean up on his right knee in the past, so there are no long-term concerns.
