Rising jockey Jye McNeil has made a big move on the metropolitan jockeys’ premiership, riding four winners at Flemington including Amadeus in the feature race on Saturday.
But his day came at a cost, being found guilty of careless riding and incurring a 10-meeting ban. Two of those meetings are to be served concurrently with an eight-meeting suspension, which started after Saturday.
McNeil, 25, has ridden the most winners in Victoria this season but took his city tally to 24 courtesy of his four wins, moving within three of premiership leader Craig Williams.
Amadeus’ victory in the listed Chester Manifold Stakes capped off a memorable day, with trainer Mick Kent paying credit to the Turnbull Stakes-winning hoop.
