Your article [Spotlight, December 14] about fame being enduring (or not) had a great message. A pity there was no mention of ageing female actors still doing wonderful work: Helen Mirren, Judi Dench, Jackie Weaver and Meryl Streep all spring to mind.

Ceridwen Dovey’s piece on the Larapinta Trail [December 14] was melodramatic and inaccurate. It is a requirement that independent walkers get the information pack, which includes maps and details about water, distances and the location of facilities.
