A man who died in hospital after being thrown from a tractor in bushfire-hit East Gippsland spent two nights alone with his injuries before he was discovered.

The tractor is believed to have rolled down an embankment on the Tambo Upper Road in Bruthen some time after 8.15pm on Friday, and the man was unable to move.

He was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being discovered about 11.30am on Sunday, and later died.
