Maker comes up big for Detroit in NBA win

Australian Thon Maker played a big role late to seal Detroit’s NBA win over Denver while Giannis Antetokounmpo and James Harden were both within one assist of recording triple-doubles as they led Milwaukee and Houston to victories on Monday (AEDT).

Maker (four points) came off the bench to provide two key baskets in overtime as Detroit fought back from an early 21-point deficit to defeat the Nuggets 128-123.

Replacing Andre Drummond, who fouled out, Maker hit a baseline shot to give the Pistons a five-point lead with 2 minutes 26 seconds to play before he converted a lob pass for an alley-oop dunk to seal the victory.

Drummond had 21 points and 17 rebounds for the 400th double-double of his career – at 26 he is the second-youngest behind only Dwight Howard, who was 25, to reach that milestone.
