Geelong skipper Joel Selwood and midfielder Mitch Duncan are set to play round one against the Giants in Sydney however Jack Steven is not, with coach Chris Scott telling his players to be ready for anything amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Scott’s message to the Cats has been “keep your head in a crisis” and to do their best, not to be surprised as uncertainty prevails due to restrictions being applied to slow the spread of COVID-19 within Australia.
“[Be] as prepared as you can be but agile enough when things change that we can keep calm and focus on what is important in the moment. We know that long-term those priorities are probably going to change but we can’t be distracted by things we can’t control,” Scott told players.
The 43-year-old said he was confident in those making the decisions on whether to play in round one or not and humble enough to admit there was so much he did not know about the broad issue, to stay out of debates on decisions where he had little to offer.
