His mother Michelle described the former law student as “charismatic, stunning, stylish, witty and irreverent”, Nine News reported.
Mr Braid was remember as “forever a rooster and a larrikin” by friend James Short on Facebook.
On Wednesday afternoon, Gold Coast officers and state homicide detectives appealed for information about the location of the young woman, who is known to frequent and reside in Surfers Paradise, Southport and Labrador.
She is not believed to be the victim’s romantic partner, with detectives saying earlier they were not treating the homicide as a domestic violence incident.
Members of the public were urged not to approach her, but instead to call police immediately.
Detective Inspector Chris Ahearn said investigators were working through the mammoth task of doorknocking residents in the surrounding buildings and checking security camera footage.
“There were a number of people present and we have a number of people who have provided us with versions of what occurred.”
Inspector Ahearn said the group of people involved were “loosely known to each other” and police set up roadblocks on Tuesday night to make sure they rounded up everyone who had fled the scene.
The group involved were staying in the Beachcomber building, but the victim lived elsewhere in Surfers Paradise.
A white four-wheel-drive was also taken from the scene.
Detectives have appealed for any witnesses who were in the vicinity of Hanlan Street from 6pm to 8pm on Tuesday to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
