Brisbane playgrounds, libraries and barbecues reopen for the weekend

Brisbane residents keen to pick up a new book to read, play some tennis or take their children to a playground can do so from midnight on Friday.

Lord mayor Adrian Schrinner said the state’s eased restrictions will allow more people to use council facilities, with some social-distance planning measures put in place.

Cr Schrinner said there would be “some significant changes” to operations for libraries, including a 10-person limit in the library building.

“We are still seeking clarification from the state government about whether that 10-person limit will include staff but either way there will be restrictions on services and residents will be only able to pick up and drop off library books and use the self-serve facilities,” he said.
