Applications now being taken for the position of customer

Reading about China’s intention of imposing high tariffs on Australian barley, Meri Will of Northmead thinks it’s time for Australians to support our barley growers and buy up more of the golden grain ourselves. To help with ways to use this unexpected bounty, Meri says, “My grandmother mixed a refreshing lemon barley cordial, and my mother makes a delicious barley and vegetable soup. Other ideas anyone?”

Lynne Britten of Charlestown wishes it was as simple as sewing cotton reels into a pyjamas shirt (C8). “My husband can snore whilst sleeping on his back, on his left side or right side, and even when asleep sitting upright on the lounge. He does encounter a problem though when a pillow is placed over his face and held firmly in place.”

While we’re enjoying the snoring stories (C8) there is also a serious side, as Col Shephard of Yamba points out. “We need to break the somewhat silence about snoring (ouch! – Granny) and its association with sleep disorders. Having been at both ends of the problem I can recommend sufferers consulting their GP and a sleep professional.”

Breaking out of isolation last Friday, Allan Gibson of Cherrybrook headed off to Bunnings, Officeworks and the lighting store, then stopped off at a small cafe at Castle Hill for a quick, sit-down sandwich and coffee – socially distant of course. “As I waited to order the sign on the counter said it all: ‘Customers wanted. Apply within’.”

Having just purchased a pillow online, Maureen Edwards of Caringbah admits to being confounded by the 98-page booklet that it came with. “Admittedly it is a good one and the booklet does contain a number of languages, but 98 pages! With the cover title being instructions for use? Last time I checked I was actually able to work out how to use a pillow, but then again I am 60 so I guess I have a lot of experience.”
