Racing Victoria will allow owners to return to Victorian race meetings under strict COVID-19 safe protocols from Tuesday at the Ballarat meeting – 24 hours later than originally planned.
The ban on owner attendance was due to be lifted at Monday’s Swan Hill fixture, but the spike in coronavirus cases over the weekend forced authorities to delay their policy change.
Under protocols released on Monday night time limits on owner attendance at meetings will operate, with owners required to leave the track as soon as the final runner of the day with which they are involved has raced.
Clubs will tell owners when they can arrive – with times likely to vary depending on the facilities and infrastructure at the different tracks.
RV says that a maximum of 30 owners per race will be permitted, with pre-registration required and compulsory provision of details on the day for contact tracing. Social distancing and density requirements will be in force, depending on the current government instructions.
