Baker, Schofield fined and tested after embracing for victory photo

A winning trainer and jockey have been fined and sent for COVID-19 tests after breaching racing’s strict coronavirus guidelines when they posed for a selfie after winning a race on Saturday.

Racing NSW stewards fined trainer Bjorn Baker ($4000) and jockey Glyn Schofield ($2000) for embracing in the photograph, which was uploaded to social media, after Off Shaw saluted in the final race on Saturday.

The pair fronted an inquiry on Monday after stewards were alerted to the photograph, which was published on Twitter.

It was taken down after 30 minutes, when one of Baker’s owners alerted the stable to a potential social distancing gaffe.
