Tigers need to tighten up on discipline, says Hardwick

Richmond coach Damien Hardwick hopes his premiership players, particularly Josh Caddy, learn from the acts of ill-discipline that proved costly in the last quarter against ladder-leaders Port Adelaide in their 21-point loss on Saturday.

A 50-metre penalty against Dustin Martin for shoving Tom Rockliff in the middle of the ground turned into a virtual 100m penalty when Caddy, inexplicably, impeded Rockliff’s path while running back towards goal.

Rockliff slotted through the gift goal and Richmond were unable to recover.

“The 50 metres were disappointing, no doubt,” said Hardwick, who expects captain Trent Cotchin back for next Sunday’s match against Gold Coast after being rested against Port.
