Victoria records 21 deaths, 410 cases of coronavirus

There were 21 deaths from coronavirus in Victoria in the past day and 410 new cases recorded.

The Department of Health and Human Services released the figures this morning.

It is the highest daily death toll since the pandemic began, after the state recorded 19 deaths on both Monday and Tuesday.

The number of new cases has also risen, from 331 on Tuesday.

The figures come as Victorian Jobs Minister Martin Pakula and Treasurer Tim Pallas, as well as their departmental secretaries, begin giving evidence on day two of state Parliament’s public accounts and estimates committee hearings into the government’s handling of the pandemic.
