Lions lock in Andrews on huge five-year deal

It might not be the Harris Andrews Football Club as Brisbane Lions coach Chris Fagan emphasised on Tuesday, but that doesn’t mean the All-Australian full-back isn’t vital to the club’s future premiership chances.

That’s why the 24-year-old, who will miss the start of the finals due to a hamstring injury that might keep him out for six weeks, was signed to a five-year deal that will keep him at the Lions until 2025 despite the ongoing uncertainty in the competition due to the coronavirus pandemic.

One of the most respected defenders in the game, Andrews is expected to be a key to keeping the emerging Lions in contention for a long time and as a Queenslander represents the state in the Lions’ jumper.

“I love the club and I’m a proud Queenslander, I couldn’t imagine playing or living anywhere else,” Andrews said on the Lions’ website.
