Hello and welcome to our rolling coverage of today’s AFL action.

The first match is the most consequential contest of the day as Melbourne find themselves in a do-or-die clash with Essendon at Metricon Stadium.

If the Demons win, they’re finals hopes are still alive and they would need Fremantle to beat the Bulldogs to make the top eight. But if they lose, their finals dream is over and the Dogs will qualify.

The twilight game is an important one for Richmond because they need to beat the bottom-placed Crows at Adelaide Oval to secure a top-four spot and the double chance.

Meanwhile, the night clash sees Brisbane take on Carlton at the Gabba. If the Lions win, they keep their hopes of their first ever minor premiership as a joint venture club alive. It would also be the club’s first minor premiership since Fitzroy’s last one in 1913.
