Government staffer escorted to Parliament House where she has been storing former MP’s hard drive: ICAC

The secretary for the NSW government whip has been storing the computer hard drive of former Liberal MP Daryl Maguire in her Parliament House office since he asked her to arrange for it to be “lost in the post” around the time he appeared before a corruption inquiry in 2018.

Rebecca Cartwright was escorted to her Parliament House office by ICAC officers shortly after 1pm on Wednesday to collect the hard drive after she revealed she had Mr Maguire’s parliamentary computer hard drive in her possession.

It is the first time she has informed the Independent Commission Against Corruption about the hard drive, which could contain evidence implicating him in corruption.

Ms Cartwright was moments away from completing evidence she was giving as a witness at another ICAC inquiry examining whether Mr Maguire misused his parliamentary office for his own financial interests between 2012 and 2018.
