Jean-Paul de Marigny has been sacked as Western Sydney Wanderers coach just days before the start of his first full season in charge of the club.
The 56-year-old had his contract terminated on Monday, less than three months after being appointed head coach on a permanent basis and with the start of pre-season looming.
Sources close to the playing group suggest the squad were shocked to hear about de Marigny’s sacking on Monday. They had expected to enter pre-season training on October 15 with de Marigny at the helm.
Sources close to de Marigny suggested issues about recruitment, support staff, season planning and personal differences with other coaches had risen in recent months.
