Lloyd crowned Swans’ best, club cuts five

Sydney’s experiment with former US college basketballer Michael Knoll is over as the Swans clear space to bring in more top-end talent in the draft.

A day after running defender Jake Lloyd claimed his second best and fairest award, Knoll was among five players cut by the Swans.

Defender Ryley Stoddart, the No.53 pick in the 2017 draft, leaves after six games in three seasons, including two in 2020, while Jack Maibaum, Harry Reynolds, Brady Rowles and Knoll leave without donning the red and white in a senior game.

Knoll, who played basketball against Ben Simmons when the NBA star was 16, was selected in last year’s mid-season draft in a bid to ease the Swans’ ruck crisis but injuries prevented him breaking through at the top level.
