Bushwalkers along Sydney’s northern beaches were evacuated as a precaution after a hazard reduction burn jumped containment lines on Saturday.
A hazard reduction in North Head, in Manly, is out of control and is pushing “a fair bit of smoke” across the area, a NSW Fire and Rescue spokesman said. It continues to move in a southerly direction towards North Head Sanctuary, with firefighters preparing to protect assets, including outhouses.
There is no ongoing threat to homes and the fire remains at the “advice” level.
The spokesman said about 60 bushwalkers had been evacuated from the area as a precaution.
