An eight-year-old girl told police that her swim teacher Kyle Daniels touched her on a “place that you’re not supposed to” during a 2019 lesson at Mosman Swim Centre on Sydney’s lower north shore.
Mr Daniels, 22, is on trial in the NSW District Court accused of assaulting nine young girls by touching them on or near the genitals during swimming lessons at the pool in 2018 and 2019. He has pleaded not guilty to 26 charges relating to 23 alleged incidents.
On Monday, the court was played the pre-recorded evidence of one of the girls, who said Mr Daniels had touched her over the top of her swimmers on “the place that you’re not supposed to, like, touch”, which made her feel uncomfortable.
Asked by a police detective what that place was, the girl said she didn’t want to say it out loud but could write it down. She then wrote the word “vagina” on a piece of paper.
